Penguins are aquatic animals, a kind of bird which can’t fly (flightless bird). They live both in water and on land, but mostly spend their time in the water. Its tall has range between 40 cm (Little blue penguin) and 1.1 m (Emperor penguin), weight between 1 kg and 35 kg. Penguin’s body is suitable either for swimming or sliding. It has black and white plumage, white front and black back which use for camouflage. Almost all species of penguin are from Southern Hemisphere, but now some have spread to another hemisphere. Larger penguins live in cold region, and smaller penguins in tropical region. Their tails and wings are use for maintain balance when it walked. While sliding across the snow, they use their bellies to conserve energy. Scientists expect that penguins have myopic eyes, although there is no research supported this hypothesis yet. They have thick layer feathers to keep them warm even in cold water. The Emperor penguins are able to control their blood flow to reduce the heat loss due to their swimming. On land, they often assemble together to keep warm by making a heat pack. Because they have unique appearance, I love penguins.
